Dear friends - Our Torah Fund Campaign for 2019-2020 has begun. The theme for this year is Chesed which means kindness. Deeds of loving-kindness are one of the three central pillars of Jewish life. As it is said in Psalm 89 "may we build a world of kindness." To proudly wear your Torah Fund pin for 5780 please call Susan Forman at 813-286-8133. Not familiar with Torah Fund? Come and join us for the 2nd annual Sukkot celebration on October 16th for the “Young At Heart” After blessings in the sukkah we will go into the social hall for lunch, music, and to schmooze. For our program this year we are going down memory lane. Please bring the youngest picture of yourself. Don’t put your name on it, we will guess who it is. Still going down memory lane we will play name that tune from the 30s, 40s and 50s. As usual with the Caring Committee there is no change for our programs. If you would like to make a donation to help us out please feel free to do so. Mark your check Caring Committee
Sarah Schmerling was returning to New York from Israel after visiting her kids and grandkids who live in Jerusalem. When she got to the El Al counter, she presented her ticket to New York. As she gave the agent her luggage, she said, "I'd like you to send my green suitcase to Hawaii and my red suitcase to London." The confused agent said, "I'm sorry, but we can't do that." "Really? I am so relieved to hear you say that, because that's exactly what you did to my luggage last year!"
Members may sponsor a kiddush in honor or memory of a friend or loved one, to celebrate a simcha, an anniversary, or a milestone, or for virtually any reason at all.
All meals served at synagogue, of course, are strictly kosher.
