Make Your Donations Go Further
Did you know that making a donation or fulfilling a financial obligation to Rodeph Shalom before the end of the year can improve your tax situation?
Here are a few approaches: If you itemize your taxes, as compared to taking the standard deduction, making a payment to us now that you would typically make next year might help you reach a threshold for a tax deduction this year. If you are current on your obligations to us, we will apply that additional payment towards the next fiscal year.
If you have appreciated stock that you have owned for more than a year you may donate the stock to us. By donating stock you will avoid paying capital gains tax, as well as receiving credit for the tax-deductible donation. We have some simple instructions for your stockbroker to facilitate this transaction. Contact us.
If you are age 70 ½ or older and need to take the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA, donating all or part of the RMD directly to us allows you to avoid paying income taxes on the distribution.
This is general information. As always, please consult your own financial advisor who can best address your particular circumstances. If you would like to pursue any of these options, please contact Interim Executive Director Gary Fifer at director@rsholom.org or by calling our Office. To ensure the proper credit to your account, the deadline is December 23, 2022.
Thank you for your support of our Rodeph Sholom community!
We are looking for members who wish to be considered for service on our Board of Directors beginning in May 2023.
Have you ever wanted to get more involved in shaping our Rodeph Sholom future? Board members help to guide such areas as education, finance, fundraising, and more. This is your opportunity to do more than talk about change; instead, be part of the change. To learn more about the responsibilities and to be considered, please contact President Lloyd Stern at president@rsholom.org.
