COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS Hillsborough County is currently at high transmission for COVID-19, therefore masks are required for everyone inside the synagogue, regardless of vaccination status. We will be having kiddush and dinners outside as well. Our rules may vary week to week based on local transmission rates.
LAND SALE UPDATE
We did sign the purchase and sale agreement with Related to sell our parking lot, the area where the Irving Cohen Center currently is located, and the land around our current building for $9.3 million.
At signing we received $200,000 in our bank account, which will be used to cover our legal fees, our appraisal cost, and any fees from the owners representative we are now going to hire. Also at signing, we started the clock on a 90 days due diligence period. At the end of that time, if all goes well, we will get another $300,000 in our bank account. The closing on this deal, when we will get the balance of the $9.3 million, will be in about 2 years. Construction would start anytime after that and last for 2 years.
We will have 8 spots on site for parking during construction and also additional off site parking across Bay to Bay near the crosstown with a shuttle for our use.
Related will build a condominium in the parking lot/Irving Cohen area. We will have 64 parking spots on the ground level and exclusive use of all the areas around the building and on the Bayshore side of the building. We will have separate entrances: we will enter on Barcelona and they will enter on Ysabella.

Please join us on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 7:00 pm for this powerful film. Evelyn Markus will be with us introducing her film and then afterwards for a Q & A session. This event will be held on Zoom only.
Sponsored by Maureen and Doug Cohn
Told through the eyes of Evelyn Markus, who fled the Netherlands in 2006 for the United States, this documentary investigates the troubling rise of anti-Semitism in Europe. Markus was raised in Amsterdam by parents who witnessed the growing anti-Jewish violence in the 1940s. Her parents survived the Holocaust when Allied soldiers liberated them in 1945. When Markus saw signs of the same disturbing trends returning to the Netherlands, she and her partner, Rosa Zeegers, left the land her family called home for centuries. Today she confronts the hatred that drove her out and embraces her life’s mission – to prevent one of history’s darkest chapters from repeating. Never Again Is Now is Evelyn’s story, her warning to the world: back in 1940, we could have stopped the evil threat but didn’t.
