Lee and Amy Schaffler and their daughters Sadie (3 years old) and Mara (11 months old) are thrilled to join the Rodeph Sholom family. They moved to Tampa recently from New York City. They were active members of their Conservative shul in NY and look forward to the same in their new home in Florida. Sadie is a student at the JCC preschool at the Rodeph Sholom campus.
Peter Bendix was promoted to vice president of baseball development in October 2019 and begins his 12th season with the Rays. In this role, Peter assists in all aspects of baseball operations, including player evaluation, roster management, long-term thinking and helping to oversee the day-to-day functions of the department. He spent the past four seasons as director of baseball development, serving as a liaison for baseball research and development to all other aspects of the organization, with a primary focus on the major league club. He first joined the Rays as an intern in January 2009, and was later promoted to assistant of baseball operations and coordinator of baseball research and development. Peter played baseball and tennis while growing up outside of Cleveland, and claims to be an excellent ping-pong player. He earned a degree in American studies from Tufts University and wrote for several publications before joining the Rays. He and his wife, Lauren, live in St. Petersburg.
