Youth Groups

Activities (Chevrah)

Chaverim (1st & 2nd grades)
Chaverim will meet every other month from September through May in the Youth Lounge. The group activities provide our children with a fun social program all within a Jewish setting. This program establishes and builds long-lasting friendships. It also lets the children establish a sense of Jewish identity at Rodeph Sholom.

Boneem (3rd – 5th grades)
This youth group is designed to meet the social, educational, religious and recreational needs of our children. Boneem meets once a month from September through May and offers youngsters the chance to experience all of these activities in an informal Jewish environment. Through these activities they will develop a sense of themselves and strengthen their bonds with Jewish beliefs, outlooks and customs, which will insure their continuance in Judaism. Although Boneem is not a formal group associated with United Synagogue Youth, we will instill upon all members of Boneem the three pillars of Judaism. Your child will have fun and will get accustomed to the Youth Department, thus reinforcing their commitment to Judaism and Rodeph Sholom.

Kadima and USY (9th – 12th grades)
Kadima and USY are the two official youth groups of United Synagogue of America. These youth programs are the most important informal Jewish Educational experiences that teens have! Kadima is geared towards 6th-8th graders and USY is for 9th-12th graders. Being a member of Kadima and USY enables your child the opportunity to meet hundreds of other Conservative Jews and be seen as a vital presence at Rodeph Sholom and in the community at large. Our teens have the opportunity to meet with their contemporaries in our sub-region, Mercaz and our Region, Hanegev. A wide variety of publications, summer and year long programs are available. Each affiliated member receives a quarterly magazine from their respective group. Rodeph Sholom Kadimaniks and USY'ers will receive social, athletic, cultural, religious and educational activities. The everlasting friendships made will leave a lasting impression on your teen. Allow them the opportunity to take advantage of the very that Rodeph Sholom groups have to offer!
